If you are doing school photography, there are some features in Sytist you may want to use.
One of the most important things is password protecting the photos of each student. There are 2 ways to accomplish this:
Passcode Photos
The Passcode Photos feature allows you to password protect individual photos. When someone visits the gallery for the school, they don't see photos and just enter in their passcode to view their photo or photos. The same password can be used on multiple photos if someone has more than one photo.
Password Protected Sub Galleries
You can create password protected sub galleries where each student would have their own password protected sub gallery. You can also batch upload those via FTP. See these articles:

Pre-Sell Collections / Packages
You might also want to sell packages ahead of time. This will allow the customer to purchase a collection, and once the photos are available, come back and select the photos for their packages.
See: Setting up a Section for Pre-Sell Packages
Collecting students name
If you need to collect the student's name for a pre-sell package, see under Options in the article above.
To collect a student's name when someone is purchasing photos from a gallery, you can set up those options in your price list using the additional fields at checkout in your price list settings.
