Starting with Sytist version 2.5 is the option for sharpening processed photos when they are uploaded. This will sharpen the large and small photos after they are processed (resized, watermarked, etc...). The original file you upload will not be sharpened.
This is set on by default, but can be disabled in Settings -> Photo Settings.
