Hiding The Galleries In A Category Until A Password Is Entered
I have a section that clients need to be logged on to get into that section.
I have categories in that section that also required an account
I am trying to set up a category where the clients cannot see the galleries within it without a password.
I have tried many variations of of settings in category settings without success.
When I enter a password in Password protect entire category and then the user clicks on the category, nothing happens. No password box presented.
Any ideas pLease?
I just tried again. I created a category. and set a password for it.
When I tested by logging on as a user on another device, it worked fine. I clicked on the category and it requested password and grand.
Then I put a client gallery in the category. When I now selected the category, no password was requested and I cuould go straigh to the client gallery.
What am I forgetting?
You already entered a password for the category so it remembers that for that session and why it didn't ask for the password again.
What is your goal?
Are you wanting them to enter a password to see all galleries in that category?
Or are you just not wanting others to see the galleries available?
Not password protecting galleries?

Thank you for your reply
I am trying to hide the galleries in the category from those without password.
Thegalleries are password protected. I tried hiding the galleries and giving them the link. It proved difficult for some.
Under “Password Protect Entire Gallery” in Category setting. There is the Password box and two tick boxes
Check this box to not show category when categories are listed.
Check this box to not show podts in this category when all posts are listed
What is the effect of these?
Thanks again
Tim,
I password protected the category, I logged on as a user, ensuring that user was not approved for galleries within that category.
When I clicked on the category, the password was required. Entered it and grand.
I logged out and logged in again. Clicked on the category. No request for password. straight in.
I cleared cookies on my Safari browser. Still same result.
What am I missing?
That is the expected behavior. It is saved in a session that the password has been entered so it remembers that each time as long as the session is still active so they don't have to keep entering it.
If you close out your browser completely it will kill the session then ask for the password again.
