Html Editor Not Saving

I'm trying to add some additional styling to a plain text element using the HTML editor, but whenever I make a change in the editor it does not save. It appears to only save changes I made in the WYSIWYG editor. Help please!

in a text only column element, within the plain text editor for an individual column. Just trying to add a little padding and a background color. Thanks!

If you mean in the page designer, you won't be able to add custom code in those elements. You will have padding and margin options in the row styling for the elements.
