Publish Photos On The Site Without Google Being Able To Find Them
I'm not to good with this stuff... but is there a way to have a gallery that when you search google, that gallery wouldn't appear in the results... or any image file in that gallery. I have a parent worried that his daughter appears in a google search if he types in a related word to the photo, team or school I am shooting.? Thanks for any insights.
If it is a password protected gallery, google shouldn't be crawling those.
But you might want to create a robots.txt file and upload it to the main folder of your website to tell google not to index the photos.
Basically the content of the robots.txt file would be this to tell google not to index any images:
User-agent: Googlebot-Image
Disallow: /

If this gallery is not locked and we create the Robots.txt file - will that also work? Just curious. Is there any disadvantage to have this file in the directory? This is the first time somebody has made this an issue and I'd like to avoid any arguments.
Maybe. But if it involves children it should be password protected IMO.
I don't see any disadvantages with the robots.txt unless you are wanting some images indexed.
