Storage Limits - Deleting Images

I am again nearing the limits of my storage and have a few questions related to this.

1. Where do I go to see what is taking up the bulk of my storage space? I have a feeling it's large image files that I used when first setting things up. I would like to replace those, but need to know how to track them down.

2. What is your process for removing old galleries? Last year, I deleted the entire gallery, but then I lose the stats to go along with it. Do you delete the images and leave the empty gallery?

3. If I delete client images from the system and there is a previous download purchase for that image, can they still download it or will I be breaking that link?

Anything else that I might not be considering that I should be?

@selina, my recommendation is to invoke S3 bucket storage from stylist to AWS S3. Very low cost.
OR

You will need to archive the data on your local drive or storage backup. But you will need to delete them if you want to free storage up.

I might be misunderstanding your suggestion, Arron, but it sounds like you are referring to storage outside of Sytist?

I'm referring to the storage space within Sytist. Storage outside of that is easy.

There isn't a way to see what is taking up the space. You can go to the All Photos section and sort by oldest photos to see if some old ones are larger in size (click the thumbnail).

With that amount of space and amount of files, it looks like that would average about 4MB per photo.

In Settings -> Photo Settings there are options to NOT delete purchased photos and with those checked, if you delete the galleries those purchased photos will not be deleted.

If you do delete galleries, you will lose the gallery specific sales data, but the overall sales data will not be deleted.

And I can't tell which galleries or photos are taking up the most space at this time.

Thanks, Tim.
I do have that setting checked off. If I delete the images in the gallery, but leave the gallery shell intact, will those purchased images still remain? Or will deleting the images override that setting?
I would like to keep the gallery specific data so I can have easy comparisons.

I think I am uploading images around 2mb now, but in the past they were bigger. I guess I need to reduce the file size even more!

If you delete just the images from the gallery (view photos -> click the More tab -> Select All then the delete / trash icon that will open in the bottom tray) it will NOT delete those that have been purchased and the purchased photos will remain in the gallery.

That's perfect. Thank you!

Since this topic already exhist I'm adding to it.

I have archived all my galleries and removed all the photos. I have only 4 photos on the system that is showing in the All Photo tab, but the front page is saying that there are still 267 photos there and its taken up 8.34GB of space.

How do i find these and remove them.

Please help.

Those are all of the preview images you have uploaded to your galleries, including the archived galleries. If you want to delete all of the gallery preview images, you would need to go into each gallery -> Preview Photo, then delete the uploaded preview image.

Hi Tim

I just deleted a whole bunch of preview images, and the image count has not moved. I also then deleted some of the archived galleries and again the image count has not moved at all.
Could it be something else? I don't have that many photos on the main site, so I'm a bit puzzled. Thanks

I did some digging and looks like there were some photos from 2020 that did not get deleted from the server for some reason. Also some old download zips I deleted.

I don't know if the photos from 2020 are using for any product graphics, so I have just added an additional 8GB to your account to accommodate.

Selina, S3 is the answer!!! I have Bluehost and they love to shut my site down on Black Friday, and other busy times of the year because I was over limit on my unlimited site. S3 costs me about $5 per month! It was easy to do and you can't tell looking at my site. Keep the little box checked and you don't  have to worry about a thing!!
