Merge Multiple Accounts W Same Customer

Tim,
I have this issue from time to time also (see Merging/linking Multiple Accounts). A customer drops an email account or for some other reason chooses to create a new account when they already have an existing account.
It would be helpful to be able to merge his prior history into the new account,
I assume from the prior response that just changing the old account to the new email address won't work?

There is not a way to merge accounts. If they haven't purchased anything from their new account, you can just delete that one and update their email address in their old account.

Has there been an update to this? Because I'm having the same issue with clients creating and ordering under another account because they typed their email address incorrectly. I don't want to delete one account because I don't want to lose their order history.
