Tim,
I have big problems... followed your instructions to the letter as far as I can see. After uploading the upgrade files and over-writing the files. I logged in to admin and the version remained the same 0.8.5. I edit my them and saved. Version remained the same.
Website showing:
MYSQL ERROR: Unknown column 'cart_package_no_select' in 'where clause'
Query: SELECT COUNT(*) AS total FROM ms_cart WHERE cart_client='45c48cce2e2d7fbdea1afc51c7c6ad26' AND cart_package!='0' AND cart_package_no_select!='1' AND cart_package_buy_all='0' AND cart_order

If you manually updated:
https://www.picturespro.com/sytist-manual/installation/upgrading/
Probably this:
If your Sytist admin folder is not named "sy-admin", first upload the CONTENTS of the sy-admin folder INTO your admin folder on your website (whatever it is called) overwriting the existing ones.
Your admin folder isn't named sy-admin

Thank you Tim,
That was exactly it... and I thought I followed instructions.... So sorry... but panic had already sunken in although I had backups of both files and database before running the upgrade.

It would be on the home page of the admin in the center of the screen in blue. If you are running Sytist 0.8.4 or older, you may not have it available.

Go to Settings -> Admin / Main settings and make sure the check for auto updates is not disabled. If that isn't it, then something on the server must be blocking the check for updates.

No, it's not disabled. It wouldn't surprise me if it's the server. I can never seem to do a database backup either. Sytist says it's done it but still says no backups on the screen.
Perhaps they're linked...?

I've got it enabled now to require an email address to view, but it's not showing me the emails in the admin. Is it supposed to? Otherwise, I don't see the point in asking for their email.

When you click the people tab for a page / gallery in the admin it will show you there.

Thanks! I guess I was confused because my newest gallery shows no emails, even though when I click on the recent IPs, it shows people going there. Maybe they just didn't want to enter their e-mail, so nobody has seen it yet.

Having troubles getting the site to recognize the manual upgrade from 0.8.3 to the current version
I did a manual update via the FTP. I did NOT have the "sy-admin" folder on there, just "admin" so I copied the contents of the "sy-admin" folder into the "admin" folder and it replaced all the items.
Then I copied the contents from outside the "sy-admin" folder, from inside the "sytist_UPGRADE_files" folder into the main directory above the "admin" folder.
I logged into the admin page, and went to edit the theme, saved that. Then went back to the home page of admin, refreshed the page and still stuck on on the old 0.8.3... I've tried this method 3 times now, no change. Any ideas what's up? Anything else I should be trying to do?
Thanks!
Paul

I think what you have done is uploaded the contents of the sy-admin folder into the main Sytist folder and not into your admin folder (you probably were not inside the admin folder when you uploaded the sy-admin files and folders). Be sure you are INSIDE the admin folder when upload the sy-admin content.
And doing this you also overwrote your main index.php file. So you will need to download this zip file:
https://www.picturespro.com/sy-misc/download/Sytist-index-file.zip
Unzip it and upload the included index.php file into your main Sytist folder (not the admin folder).

Was reviewing some sytist help topics from March 3rd regarding the ability to copy options from store listings instead of having to retype them in every item. I have not found this ability within this update. Am I missing it? Is it available?
