Attention

If your Photo Cart is suddenly getting a 500 error or only displaying a blank page then you or your hosting company has updated the PHP (programming language) to PHP 7 which Photo Cart is not compatible with (and will not be compatible with) mainly because of the removal of the my_sql functions which are replaced with my_sqli functions.

You would need to have the PHP version downgraded to 5.6 in order for Photo Cart to work. If downgrading the PHP doesn't work then you may have to update Photo Cart to the last version of 7. Download Photo Cart 7 upgrade files. Upgrade instructions.

Photo Cart was retired in 2015. Check out Sytist.

What program can I use to bulk upload to my website? Now that Dave's bulk uploader no longer works I am having to upload my photos one by one.

You will have to use a FTP program to upload photos

Ok I got Filezilla, do you know where I would find my port number? I'm sorry to bother you but I have no idea what that is.

You can probably just leave the port blank. But if you need it, you will have to ask your hosting company.

We have been using Dave's Uploader/Freeloader since 2010 when we first started using Photo Cart. For no apparent reason, it stopped working a couple weeks ago. I have spent a looooong time on the phone with our dedicated server support at GoDaddy and even longer trying to figure it out on my own. NOTHING works. I know the site says support ended 1/1/17 and that even the download and help pages will be gone 12/31/17. Is Uploader/Freeloader completely unusable at this point? No matter what we do all we get when trying to connect to our Photo Cart with Freeloader is 'File Transfer URL' cannot be contacted

We do use FileZilla regularly but because we have never had to go that route I have no idea how to upload images that way to Photo Cart. Seems like it would require reducing the image files to thumbnails before then uploading to a manually created Photo Cart photos folder.

Thanks for any help as right now we are dead in the water.

I have not used Dave's Uploader, but with it saying file transfer URL can not be contacted, it basically means it can't connect to the FTP. I believe it should start with ftp://yourdomain.com/ ... then the path you would get logged into filezilla and go into the Photo Cart -> photos folder.

like
ftp://yourdomain.com/public_html/photocart/photos
