Attention
If your Photo Cart is suddenly getting a 500 error or only displaying a blank page then you or your hosting company has updated the PHP (programming language) to PHP 7 which Photo Cart is not compatible with (and will not be compatible with) mainly because of the removal of the my_sql functions which are replaced with my_sqli functions.
You would need to have the PHP version downgraded to 5.6 in order for Photo Cart to work. If downgrading the PHP doesn't work then you may have to update Photo Cart to the last version of 7. Download Photo Cart 7 upgrade files. Upgrade instructions.
Photo Cart was retired in 2015. Check out Sytist.
Switching Hosts
I understand I need to:
1) Upload the Photocart folder to her public_html file
2) Create a new database and upload the old database to it as a .sql file
3) Edit the setup.php file
I've uploaded the photocart folder to the public_html file and created the new database. Two issues:
1) My friend can't find the database. If she can't find it, is there anyway to run the installer again and just reinstall it in the new database?
2) I can't find the setup.php file anywhere!!!! Where is it located? Is it possible that it could have been deleted when she initially installed Photocart on the original server?
Thanks,
Mary Clare

The database isn't located where the files are. And the setup.php file is inside the Photo Cart folder.

As for location of setup.php file . . . I looked in the Photo Cart folder, and all the subfolders, and couldn't find it. Can you be more precise as to its location? Or is it possible it was deleted after the setup (as some of the posts I read seemed to imply could happen).
Thanks,
Mary Clare
The setup.php file is right inside the Photo Cart folder ... what ever that folder is named.
If you are unable to locate the MySQL database (which you access through the hosting control panel then going into PHPMyAdmin), then you will have to re-install from scratch completely losing all data.
If you have to re-install from scratch, you will need to email me for the installation files.

It was as I suspected . . . the setup.php file is missing. My friend didn't email me her Photocart files as a zip, just as individual ones and so it probably wasn't a complete set. I'm having her look for that file and the database (and yes- I know it needs to be accessed through phpmyadmin). If she can't find them I will email you for the installation files.
Thanks again.
