I have always noticed new customers registering and they are spammers.... But within the past couple weeks I'm getting dozens of them. What is going on with that and how can I stop it? I'm hoping they don't have a way to get into galleries and steal photos or even look at them as it would be a privacy issue.

are you using capthca as part of the registration process?

when you set up if people need to register first to view photos etc. In there at the bottom of the page is the option to turn on captcha

captcha requires a user to enter number/letters that are picked at random and displayed in a box beside a text entry box for the user to copy . This defeats robot spammers from registering with your site.

Also in Settings > Customer registration & login, it is best to check the option for "Reject registrations with same first & last names" because most of the spam bots seem to use the same first and last name .

I also have seen a huge increase in the past few weeks. Mail seems to be coming from Poland (by the names) or a server ending in "@.mail.ru"

I went to the settings page & activated all the security settings. Hope this helps....
