Last week a new Sytist update was released, version 1.8, with the addition of Square credit card processing.
Also in the update included a couple of new features of automatically changing the price list of a gallery after a certain date and changing the shipping group after a certain date. Here are some examples of how these new features might be useful.
- You want to charge more for your products after a period of time the gallery has been online. You would have a price list which includes higher prices than your normal price list.
- You only want to offer download photos after a period of time the gallery has been online. You can have it change to a price list that only contains downloads.
- Change the shipping group to a group that has higher prices to basically incorporate a late fee.
The options to change the price list & shipping group is available when editing the gallery in the admin. Click the Price List option and you will see the option to change it after a certain date. Same for the shipping group.
You can also set it do this by default when creating new galleries by editing the section your galleries are in (edit under the section name in the left menu of the site content section), then click Default Settings then the Default Price List option and shipping option.
A few tips related to this
You can duplicate existing price lists then change override the product prices in the price list by mousing over the price and clicking the edit icon.
In Settings -> Shipping, you can create different shipping groups which can be selected on a per gallery basis to override your default shipping group.
