Does anyone have any strategies to encourage people to click Facebook Like button on their website(s)?

I'm no expert on Facebook, but I know I click on other companies likes and registrations when they offer a freebie of some sort.

I tried this on my "page" and increased my likes 400% in one week. I gave away a free "mini-session with 8x10 print". Basically was looking to reach out to new customers etc.

It seemed to work for me. Free....Free...Free!

I would be interested to hear how this strategy worked out? Aside from getting likes and giving away work, how did that translate to ongoing paid work?
